Mineral insulated cable (MI cable) is commonly referred to as magnesium oxide cable or fire-resistant cable in domestic usage. Mineral insulated cables were developed earlier abroad; as early as the late 19th century, a Swiss engineer named Arnold Francois Borel proposed the concept of mineral insulated cables and obtained a patent in 1896. After France and the UK began production in 1934-1936, the technology rapidly developed, with major industrial countries such as Italy, Canada, Australia, the United States, the Soviet Union, and Japan subsequently developing and producing it. China also began development and production in the 1960s, started mass production at the end of the 20th century, and entered fire protection design specifications in the 21st century, leading to widespread domestic use.

Mineral insulated cable composition:

Mineral insulated cable is a type of cable that uses annealed copper as the conductor, dense magnesium oxide as insulation, and an annealed copper tube as the sheath. If necessary, a layer of plastic outer sheath can be extruded outside the annealed copper sheath. In special requirements for smoke-free and halogen-free occasions, a layer of low-smoke halogen-free sheath can be added outside.
